Where in the World? Discovering the Global Call of Christ

“Where in the Bible is missions ever identified as an optional program in the church?   We have just seen that we were all created by God, saved from our sins, and blessed by God to make his glory known in all the world.   Indeed, Jesus himself has not merely called us to go to all nations; he has created us and commanded us to go to all nations.   We have taken this command, though, and reduced it to a calling – something that only a few people receive … But what if we don’t need to sit back and wait for a call to foreign missions?   What if the very reason we have breath is because we have been saved for a global mission?   And what if anything less than passionate involvement in global mission is actually selling God short by frustrating the very purpose for which he created us?” – Radical , David Platt,   p. 72-73 , 75 I’ve found myself praying a lot this last week, as I’ve been digging into the Word and into books that challenge me to live mor...

There is Much Life Saving That Needs to Be Done: Reflections on January's Book

January is coming to an end already, today is the last day.   How remarkable.   And thus ends the first month of the book challenge.   How has it gone, friends?   Have you finished?   Have you started?   Have you been captured by the beauty of God and His plan for you?   What has been your favorite part of this month’s chapter?   What ministered to your heart the most?   Please, feel free to share with me what God has been doing on the inside of you as you have journeyed with us this month.   As for me, the quote from Captivating that stood out the most to me appeared in the middle of page 105.   John and Stasi Eldredge write there: “ There is much life saving that needs to be done yet, and someone needs to do it . Not in a pressure-filled You’d better get to it kind of a way.   Rather, an invitation.   Your feminine heart is an invitation by your Creator.   To what?   To play an irreplaceable role in His S...

Do You Believe?

Water you turned into wine, opened the eyes of the blind - There’s no one like you, none like you. Into the darkness you shine, Out of the ashes we rise, There’s no one like you, None like you. Our God is greater, Our God is stronger, God you are higher than any other. Our God is healer, Awesome in power, Our God.   Our God. ~ Chris Tomlin singing, “Our God”                 Do you believe it’s true?   Do you believe that there is none like our God?   Do you believe that our God really is able to open blind eyes and cure the sick?   That He’s moving mightily upon the earth even now, and if you don’t feel it or see it – that it’s not His fault?   Do you believe that He wants to sweep you into the majestic and frighteningly glorious plan He has for His people?   Do you believe that “If our God is for us, then who could ever stop is?   And if our God is with us, then what could...

Jesus' Christmas List

As we’ve drawn closer to Christmas this year, I’ve found myself thinking more and more about Matthew 25:31-46, the parable of the sheep and the goats.   I’ve been haunted by the words that Jesus says in verses 41-43, “Go away from me.   You will be punished.   Go into the fire that burns forever that was prepared for the devil and his angels.   I was hungry, and you gave me nothing to eat.   I was thirsty, and you gave me nothing to drink.   I was alone and away from home, and you did not invite me into your house.   I was without clothes, and you gave me nothing to wear.   I was sick and in prison, and you did not care for me … (verse 45) I tell you the truth, anything you refused to do for even the least of my people here, you refused to do for me.”   And then, perhaps more chilling, the words of Ezekiel 16:49-50a, which, talking about the people o...
