Preparing for a Move of God: Studying "The Power to Change the World" by Rick Joyner

“A move of God is, by its very definition, God moving.   In the very first mention of the Holy Spirit in Scripture, He is moving (see Genesis 1:2). That is His basic nature, and He will not change. Those who are led by the Spirit are also moving, going somewhere, and are always focused on a purpose and a destiny.” – Rick Joyner, The Power to Change the World , p. 9 According to the Bible, there is something fundamentally different about the Children of God, something that keeps them from blending into the crowds of unsaved people at their door – their lives are exciting, moving in dynamic ways, focused, powerful.   Admit it; as you read the quote above, something in your heart was stirred, longing to live a life like Joyner describes, longing to experience so much of the Spirit that you are able to constantly move in the exhilarating flow of God’s plans and purposes for you.   There is something in all of us that longs to stand apart, even when it’s difficult, lo...

Hindering the Plan of God: The Danger of Thinking Like the World, Matthew 16:23

“But [Jesus] turned and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.” -           Matthew 16:23, KJV Imagine the look of hurt in Peter’s eyes, the one who has been affectionately called “The Rock” by His Master for nearly three years now, the look of confusion and frustration and pain as the man he considered one of his best friends, His Lord and Savior, called him “Satan.”   Peter had been zealous for the cause, excitedly following Christ where no others dared to tread – and now, just a short time before he would “lose” Him to death, Jesus calls him a devil?   Rebukes him harshly in front of the other disciples?   What was going on here?   Perhaps the meaning is more clear when we read the verses before it.   Jesus, in verse 21, tells the disciples that He will go to Jerusalem, suffer cruel injustices, be bru...

Operation: Radical Service

“The adventure of faith begins with faithfulness.   Being faithful is taking responsibility for the good we know to do .” – Erwin Raphael McManus, Chasing Daylight , p. 81 I’ve always loved how the military names major tactical adventures “Operations;” after all, they’re bloody, dangerous, a matter of life and death, like most surgeries are.   And I have to admit, as I read the quote above, thinking about all the good things we know to do and imagining what it would be like if we would all actively do them – my spirit stirs with the same imagery.   To intentionally do good works as Christ did requires adventurous tactical organization by the Holy Spirit, a healthy covering in the blood of Christ, and is very much a matter of life or death to those we will potentially share the Gospel with as we obediently serve.   So, I’m writing to challenge you to just that – to a battlefield, to a dangerous and life-threatening wonder known as serving God.   Lately, God...
